Dr. Sun Yat Sen

About 100 years ago in Penang, Dr Sun Yat Sen, the Father of Modern China, convened the plan for the 2nd Guangzhou Uprising, which is also known as the Canton Uprising which eventually leads to the 1911 Revolusion. To commemorate 100 years anniversary of the “Penang Meeting” which was on 13Nov2010, there is a pictorial exhibition of Dr Sun Yat Sen’s life journey during pre-1911 revolution and until his death in 1925.

The 1911 Revolution had a very close-linked with the overseas Chinese, including Penang and other South-east Asia Chinese, as they had very much supported the revolution through not only monetary contribution but also, joining to fight for a new China. Quite a number of the martyrs were from South-east Asia.

Next year, on 10October will be the 100 years anniversary of the 1911 revolution and of course, Modern China will be a century old !!!

From Lorong Kulit

Bought this at Lorong Kulit flea market during Deepavali holiday. Wonder whether it will grow as easy as the seller claimed or another waste of $ item.

p.s. At the time I am blogging, the flower has gone and some flower buds appears to be
not going to bloom, either.

Nine Emperors Festival

This is my first visit to the 9 emperors temple at Hong Kong Street, Penang. I decided to visit this temple for the first time, this year, on 16Oct which was the 9th day of the 9th month in the lunar calender. Met a 'see lai' friend on the way and she told me there weren't as many visitors at this temple compared to the one at Burma Road. So happy I have made the right decision; less crowd the better ! The temple was more than a century old and some of the items were indeed antique ! Different atmosphere from the Burma Rd's temple.
Free vegetarian food was provided but as it was the last day of celebration, they only served fried bee hoon. However, Fussy M gave a thumb's up rating.
p.s. A lottery sold here has won first prize a few years back!

Blooming chilli padi

Our so-called organic chilli padi is too hot to handle and they are ripening too fast. Hence, had been going around looking for chilli-lovers, to share these with them

My eyelid got swollen almost every week. Got to stop all these, so started to 'distribute' them to some chili padi queens friends, ie. LK, my colleagues, alas, now I have to look for some one else as the chili padi queen in my office is having a vacation in Australia. It's a pity that Angie-san doesn't take any chili.
